Audience Research: When you interview and survey audience to find out their opinions on topics based on their knowledge, information and attitudes, can be quantitative or qualitative - Purpose: To make sure it targets the correct audience in the correct way. Test Screening
Market Research: Investigations into the way that products could produce income by looking at the demand of consumption

Product Research: Examining existing products and what strengths/ weaknesses they have

Primary Research: Research you did your self Reliable but Slow, Need good understanding of statistics, Hard to get a large sample size - Surveys, Focus Groups, Interviews
Secondary research: Finding other peoples research, fast but can be unreliable

Anybody who is making a media product will need to create planning documents so that they know when they need to have certain milestones completed by. Whole production team so they can plan in advance. Directors, Project Manager/Lead, Solo producer.
- It allows you to consider how long tasks will take
- It allows you to consider what difference types of tasks are required and how they will overlap
- It allows for planning of large teams with the ability to plan a large number of tasks
- Versatile, can be used for many media products
- Live document so it can be edited easily so people can see changes
- Easy to understand
- Can plan out budget
- Identifies team roles
- It always doesn't allow for detailed descriptions of tasks
- Team member need to be aware that they are working from the same schedule
- Could be confusing if the entire production is used on one document.
- Timescale affect how useful it is.
- Doesn't account for legal or ethical issues
